I’ve seen the show make a mockery of ‘big strong guys’ in that they always get their butts kicked by females. ![]() Then what’s the point of being a male character. If big strong guys and strength have no meaning to them, then males are just ordinary.įor example, Katara is hot, charming, attractive and kind and caring, smart, can sew clothes, deliver babies and be as strong as male characters. What’s the point of being a male character, then? Yeah, I like how Katara and other female warriors are depicted as strong, independent, charming, attractive and hot characters in addition to being equally strong to male warriors. Even in battle scenes! Who even knew that was possible? Because girls are always appropriately clothed. ![]() So here are 15 ways that Avatar the Last Airbender is perfectly feminist: I could fangirl about Avatar all day long trying to convince you it will change your life (because it will), but since International Women’s Day was yesterday and I am a feminist at heart, I’m going to praise Avatar for empowering women. Throw in adventure, romance, war, and a unique magic system all about bending the elements, and you really can’t ask for anything more. The character development alone is enough to bring a writer to tears. ![]() The show quickly became one of my all-time favorite stories. ![]() But guess what? There is fantastic anime too! I am pretty new to anime, but I entered the genre through A vatar the Last Airbender. You’re afraid you’ll be labeled a super-dork if you watch it, but trust me. You have to watch Avatar the Last Airbender.
